Jane has had triple negative breast cancer twice. She joined AngelCare as a Volunteer in 2008, a year after her last recurrence. Her experiences during treatment has allowed her to work with a wide variety of referrals.
In 1963, she graduated from NYU and became an early childhood educator. She went on to have two more successful careers. As both an interior designer for twelve years with her own consulting firm, Silver Mountain Interiors, and as a retail merchant, opening and operating one of the first designer consignment shops for women in 1985. Jane sold Furie LTD. in 1993, and it exists today as Fury. She then went on to pursue her real passion in life, art. She curated and ran a successful craft show with twenty artists for five years, and then took a step back to enjoy being just being a participant. Today, she works in both fiber art and jewelry design, and sells at shops in the greater Seattle area.
When her oldest child was four, Jane started looking at the public schools, and decided that none suited her standards for excellence. She, along with a small but vital group of parents and educators worked for a year to start Alternative Elementary II at University Heights School. All three of her children happily attended. A year after adopting her third child, she was asked to join the Medina Children’s Service Board (now Amara.) She was a Trustee for twelve years. Her varied roles in leadership positions give her the experience needed to help AngelCare follow its mission.
